GARDAI are investigating two major acts of vandalism across the county.
In Barnsemore Gap, a piece of public art known as the Map Wall by artist Mark Joyce, was vandalised with sectarian graffitti.
Arts officer Terry Duffy said she is outraged at the senseless attack.
“We have reported this senseless attack to Gardai. There was just no reason for it. It’s a real shame that somebody would take the time to do this.
“But we will clean it off and hopefully leave it as it was,” she said.
Meanwhile more than €10,000 worth of damage was caused when a JCB smashed into one of Donegal’s most famous crossing Lackagh Bridge.
The picture postcard bridge, between Creeslough and Carrigart near Doe Castle, had six metres knocked off it and a number of road signs knocked over.
The bridge, which was built in 1750 at a cost of £207, was renovated by Donegal County Council in the 1970s.
Local Garda Sgt Christy Galligan said they are studying CCTV of a JCB digger which was spotted in the area at the time of the attack.
