DONEGAL’S SHAY Given could be set for a dream move for Arsenal, a number of British soccer news sites are reporting.
The unsettled Ireland star has had a frustrating season at Manchester City, playing in just three matches so far.
But City manager Roberto Mancini has agreed that Given can leave the club and has agreed a deal to bring highly-rated Watford goalie Scott Loach to Eastlands as cover for Joe Hart.
Ironically Mancini will take Loach from under the noses of Arsenal’s north rivals Spurs who had been hoping to sign him in the January transfer window.
In the past few weeks Given has been linked with moves to Fulham, now managed by former City boss Mark Hughes.
The 34-year-old Lifford man has also been linked with Celtic, Aston Villa and Liverpool.
But not it seems Arsene Wenger is on the verge of getting Given, a move set to lift Arsenal fans – and restore an Irish link once again with a club with a long history of Irish connections.
