EXCLUSIVE: GARDAI IN COUNTY DRINK-DRIVING BLITZ

THERE MAY be treacherous roads across the county this morning, but Gardai are continuing their Christmas blitz on drink-driving, donegaldaily.com can reveal.

Patrols were out in force across Donegal last night, with officers stopping a number of vehicles where they suspected drinking and driving by motorists.

A garda source told us: “Unfortunately habitual drink-drivers are creatures of habit and they will continue to break the law regardless of how the roads are.

“Obviously we have had fewer detections so far this year because in rural areas in particular the roads are hazardous and there are fewer people on the roads.

“However our campaign is continuing regardless.”
