RTE’S ‘Operation Transformation’ get its Letterkenny kick-off this Saturday – but at 2.8km’s it’s the second shortest route in the entire country!

As part of the TV campaign to make the nation fitter, 32 walks have been organised across the country.

Only Monaghan – at 2.5km- has a shorter route.

The Donegal walk starts at 1.30pm at LYIT….and the starting point…the CANTEEN!

However those taking part won’t be guzzling lattes or eating fatty scones. They’re determined to play their part in the RTE show…and in making Donegal people healthier!

This year Operation Transformation is teaming up with the Irish Sports Council to organise a number of special nationwide sporting events.

More will follow in February.
Every walk will see a leader who will set the pace and show you how to get the best value out of your walk.

The Operation Transformation leaders and experts will be out in force to walk with you and encourage the whole country to take the first step towards a healthier life. Walking is one of the best exercises you can do.

And it’s free! The walks are all Sli na Slainte routes which uses signage at kilometre intervals on established walking routes to help walkers identify the distance they walk. Slí na Sláinte is designed to encourage people to walk more frequently and to enjoy the benefits of a healthier lifestyle.
