GARDAI in Donegal have questioned a man after a priest was punched by a whiskey-drinking parishoner.

Glendowan Parish Priest Father Michael McKeever was attacked as he started Mass last Saturday night.

Horrified parishoners pounced on the drunken thug as he punched and kicked the cleric.

The disturbance began just seconds into the Mass when the man began shouting at Father McKeever, secretary to Bishop Philip Boyce.

He was also drinking from a bottle of whiskey.

An eye-witness said: “The man was out of his mind and was using the most disgusting language. Poor Father Michael tried to calm the situation but this man was crazy.”
