DRIVER OF CAR INVOLVED IN FANAD WOMAN’S DEATH CHARGED

A driver of a car which was involved in the horrific pile-up which caused the death of Fanad woman Roisin Connolly and her unborn baby has been charged with dangerous driving.

Kevin McArdle, 29, was also charged with driving with excess alcohol.

Stunning schoolteacher Roisin, 38, had just been returning from a Christmas break from Co Donegal with her husband when they were involved in a horror smash at Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan on December 27th last.

Roisin had been five months pregnant with her first child who was buried alongside her in the same coffin.

McArdle of Longfield, Carrickmacross, who was driving a BMW, appeared at a late night sitting of Carrickmacross District Court.

He appeared on crutches as a result of his injuries and was remanded on continuing bail of €1,000 to appear again on February 23rd.
