UPDATED: MOTORISTS in the county are being warned to take extra care on the roads today as 100km/h storms continue to sweep across Donegal.

Mulroy Bridge – once dubbed the Bridge to Nowhere – is living up to its name today. It has been closed due to the high winds.

Driving conditions are described as ‘extremely’ difficult, especially for high-sided vehicles.

Gardai are warning that falling trees and branches in some areas are blocking roads.

The Foyle Bridge in Derry has been closed to lorry traffic, causing traffic chaos for Donegal commuters as many vehicles are being forced to use the Craigavon bridge.

In Dublin a 45-year-old pedestrian was killed last evening when she was hit by a falling tree on Waterloo Road.
