DONEGAL stopped a hotly-tipped Monaghan side to win the Ulster Vocational Schools Final yesterday.
The Monaghan students were going for four in a row but hadn’t planned to meet a determined Donegal outfit who had learned much from the side’s encounter last year.
Indeed but for a succession of at least fourteen wides, Donegal could have easily walked this game.
A spirited display which saw outstanding displays from the likes of John O’Malley and Ryan McHugh saw John Joe O’Shea’s side eventually claim the title.
Luke Barrett was deservedly named Man of the Match while Sean Boylan got the Donegal side off to the perfect start with a fine first goal.
Donegal eventually ran out 2-9 to 1-4 winners.
