DRUNKEN thugs have torched Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil posters in Donegal North East.

Gardai in Moville are investigating how two posters owned by Joe McHugh and running mate John Ryan were set alight. Two posters erected by Charlie McConalogue were also burned.

Cllr McConalogue said he was “really disappointed” at the attack.

“Losing the posters doesn’t bother me, but it’s very disappointing that the fire service had to be called out to attend this incident. That’s a terrible waste of their time and resources,” he said.

Gardai are investigating the incident that happened around 4.15am on Monday.

Local fire crews attended the scene of the fire located across the road from a residential area. A garda spokesperson appealed for any witnesses to contact Moville garda station on 07493 82002.
