The HSE won’t say how long construction will take on the new Emergency Department at Letterkenny General Hospital after it took control of the project following the appointment of a receiver to the contractor on the project.
The Executive — which has drawn up a working programme for completion of the original work — stated that it would be premature to give commitments as to timescale of completion at this stage.
“The HSE is currently heavily engaged with its design team in making preparations for the completion of the project to the original design standards,” said National Director of Estates Brian Gilroy.
The design team has been in contact with all the sub-contractors involved in the original work.
The completion process is being speeded up and the HSE said it hopes to have “greater clarity” in regard to the completion programme shortly.
The new ED will incorporate an 11-bed Medical Assessment Unit and x-ray room and will have 19 treatment spaces.
