PORTSALON GOLF CLUB NOTES

Mulroy Links

With only one more competition remaining before the prestigious Captain’s day the Mulroy Links moves to Portsalon Golf Club on Saturday next 26th March. The final outing of the links at Rosapenna Gof Course was staged on Saturday last 12th March. Playing in blustery weather conditions the results were as follows; in the nett section Kieran O’Neill was the winner with 35 points, 2nd Garry Duffy 35 points, 3rd Eddie Mc Grodey 35 points. In the gross section the winner was Enda Kennedy 35 points, 2nd Barry Mc Gettigan 33 points’3rd Brian Devin 29 points. The title race for the golfer of the year  in the Mulroy Links is fast approaching hits conclusion, with only two outings remaining one at Portsalon and  the Captains Day at Rosapenna, the gross section has already been decided with Barry Mc Gettigan the winner. In the nett section the overall result still remains in the balance.  The current standings in both the nett and gross sections are as follows: Gross Barry Mc Gettigan with 20 points, 2nd Derek O’Neill 12 points, 3rd Dara Mc Menamin 10 points and 4th Pat Boyce and Seamus Clinton 11 points. In the nett section the leader is Chuck Mc Taggart with 13 points, 2nd David Bonner 9 points, 3rd Denis Mc Bide 8 points and 4th Gerard Mc Gettigan 6 points. The next outing will be on Saturday 26th and this will take place at Portsalon Golf Club. The Mulroy Links Captains Day will be staged Rosapenna Golf Club on Saturday 9th April.

 Results.

The winner of the open staged on Wednesday 9th  March  was Jackie Barrett playing off a 26 handicap with  37 points, Runner up Martin Mc Cafferty (21) 35 points. The CSS was 34 points non counting. Due to the adverse weather conditions which prevailed on Sunday last the members competition was cancelled.

Gaeltacht League

The last reaming match in this season’s Gaeltach League for Portsalaon Golf Club  will take place on Saturday 19th at Portsalon Golf Club. The visitors to Portsalon  will be Cruit Island Golf Club, the first tee is reserved from 10.30 to 12 p.m for this match.The team captain Willie Mc Cleary has put the final touches to his team and is striving to maintain Portsalon’s record of reaching the play off stages of this competition. Wilie has directed his team to overall success in the Gaeltacht League over the past two seasons. The final of the Gaeltacht League will take place at the Captain’s Day at Cruit Island  golf  club in April.

Events

On Saturday 19th there is a gents open competition and on Sunday 20th March there is a member’s competition. On Wednesday 23rd  March an open gents 18 hole stableford competition A time sheet is in operation for all competitions at Portsalon Golf Club, contact 074 91 59459 for your tee time or go online at portsalongolfclub.com

 Mulroy Links

The next outing of the Mulroy Links will take place at Portsalon  Golf Club on Saturday 26th March.  The final Mulroy Links events is the  Captains Day which will be staged at  Rosapenna Golf Club  on Saturday 9th April. All Mulroy Links members please note that the time sheet remains as per the previous competitions. If you are unable to play please inform the clubhouse either at Portsalon or Rosapenna Golf Clubs.

 Membership

The council wish to remind all members that their fees for the 2011 golfing year are now due. An early payment would be appreciated.

 

Winter placing

Members and visitors should note that there is 6 inch placing on all fairways.
