A Libyan man who “caused mayhem” in Donegal Town has been warned by a judge that he will “be going home soon.”
Abdeli Ali, 36, appeared before Judge Kevin Kilraine at Ballyshannon District Court on a variety of charges.
They include the theft of a bottle of wine worth €7.99 from a newsagents in Donegal Town and causing €500 worth of criminal damage to a door and window at a nearby hostel in the town, both of which occurred in January last.
He is also charged with burglary at a branch of Jack and Jones in Tralee, Co. Kerry last December.
Judge Kevin Kilrane was told that the defendant entered the premises in Tralee and caused €800 worth of damage to the cash register, stock and window of the fashion store and was discovered by Gardai hiding in a back office.
Ali, with an address at St Mary’s Park in Donegal Town, was remanded in custody to appear before Sligo District Court next Thursday.
