Special Olympics Ireland Collection Day will take place in Donegal and throughout Ireland on Friday 15th April – and the organisation is appealing for helpers!
This is the group’s biggest annual fundraising event and is essential to them, both in terms of awareness and fund raising.
Their target is to raise €1million on the day but to do this they will need a minimum of 3,500 volunteers to take to the streets of Ireland and shake a bucket for them.

2011 Special Olympics Ireland Collection Day
Special Olympics’ collection day, sponsored by eircom will take place throughout Ireland on Friday April 15th.
This is our biggest annual fundraising event and is essential to ensuring the ongoing sustainability and growth of our programme of sport for people with an intellectual disability throughout Ireland.
There are currently 11,000 athletes involved in Special Olympics activities in Ireland. This year Ireland 126 athletes from all over the country will represent Ireland at the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens in June. This is the biggest sporting occasion for people with an intellectual disability in the World and Team Ireland are determined to do us all proud on this prestigious international sporting stage
Collection Day is the biggest annual fundraising event in aid of Special Olympics Ireland and we need 3,500 volunteers to help us collect on the day.
