JUDGE O’DONNELL RETIRES FROM CIRCUIT COURT

April 4, 2011

Judge Frank O’Donnell has just retired as a judge of the Circuit Court having served there since May 1995.

Judge O’Donnell, along with Judge John Buckley and Judge Michael White, were pioneers as they were the first solicitors to be appointed to the Circuit Court following enabling legislation.

From Burtonport, Judge O’Donnell qualified as a solicitor in 1964. He obtained an LLM from Harvard two years later and practised for a number of years in Chicago before returning to Ireland.

He was president of the Law Society in 1984.
