BUNDORAN’S newest town councillor today vowed to work for the people of the town after being co-opted onto the local authority.

Sean Carthy says he is ‘honoured’ to receive the nomination from the Sinn Fein party to replace Councillor Arthur Rafferty.

Rafferty stood down from the council last week due to family commitments but will remain a member of the party.

A weekend meeting of Sinn Fein members was held over the weekend to discuss who would fill the seat and Mr Carthy was selected unopposed.

A motion to formerly ratify Sean Carthy as the new Sinn Fein Councillor will go before the members of Bundoran Town Council next month.

Said Mr Carthy: “I am honoured and delighted to be selected to represent the people of Bundoran and I will work extremely hard for all the people in the town.”
