SUN SHINES ON ANOTHER GREAT FINN VALLEY AC 5K

The final Finn Valley 5k race series now in its second year finished on a high note with again a good turnout just short of 200 Friday evening , beautiful weather conditions a real ding dong battle up front from the off between Valleys James Speight and Ballyshannon athlete James Flanagan a member of Tirconnaill.

Only in the last 500m did the 19 year old student who was incidentally a member of their winning county championship cross country team earlier in the season get away for victory.

As with all of these events there are many personal stories ,family involvement ,personal bests ,dissapointment and the normal emotions and in most cases the joy of having participated in what is in effect a social occasion as walkers /runners hang around afterwards for the much needed refreshments.

Once again Lucozade were on board thanks to local distributor Paul Cosgrove and a most enjoyable evening was had by all.

Next up on the local North West scene is the Ballyliffin Coastal Challenge Easter Saturday April 23rd @ 2pm ,the North West 10k May 1st and the exciting new event the Rundonegal Womens 5k on May 15th @ 11 am at beautiful Glenveagh . Further details on these events if required from rundonegal@gmail.com.
