Cannabis seizure –

Gardai in Letterkenny are continuing to question a man after the discovery of a number of cannabis plants in a house in the Long Lane area of the town. The raid on the house at Hazelbrook Crescent followed a surveillance operation.

Bookmaker robbed

The Wizzy Brown chain of bookmakers have been robbed again. The chain’s Newtowncunningam betting shop was raided last Monday when two armed men entered the bookmakers at 10am and demanded cash.  They escaped in a green coloured Opel Vectra in the direction of Derry. A sum of money was taken and a staff member was left badly shaken.

Stone the crows!

Four stones which were used as garden ornaments after being taken from the Giant’s Causeway are expected to make almost €4,000 when they are auctioned. According to auctioneer Ian Whyte, the stones have rested in the garden of the Lifford home for more than 50 years.

TK Maxx deny rumours

One of Donegal’s biggest stores, TK Maxx in Letterkenny, has denied it is to close its doors. Staff at the store at the Link Retail Park were responding to local speculation that the store was to pull out of Letterkenny.
