Gardai are hunting an armed gang after a vicious raid on the KFC fast-food outlet in Bundoran.

Staff were threatened with a large knife and a claw hammer after two men entered the premises at Single Street just before 11pm.

Staff were tied up and locked in a room and could not raise the alarm for more than an hour.

The gang took a substantial amount of money from the premises and escaped in a staff member’s car.

The car was a silver Vauxhall Astra car, registration number WNO4BXY, and it has still not been located.

Inspector Denis Joyce of Bundoran Garda Station described the raid as a very serious crime which left staff members of KFC very traumatised.

“This was a very serious crime and we would like to hear from anybody who may have seen anybody in and around the KFC premises at this time.

“We still do not know if these people arrived on foot or if they were dropped off.

“The staff were left very traumatised after being locked in a room for more than an hour. A knife and a hammer were also used and that is a very serious matter.

“We would appeal to anybody who may have seen anything including the whereabouts of the silver Vauxhall car to contact us,” he said.
