RIVERDANCE queen Moya Doherty has entered showbiz royalty after being named one of the world’s wealthiest people on the Sunday Times Rich List.

Doherty and husband John McColgan now have a combined wealth of €77 million according to figures of the latest Rich List to be published this weekend.

The Pettigo woman’s wealth puts her ahead of such entertainers as Cliff Richard, Van Morrison and even bad-boys Noel and Liam Gallagher of Oasis.

Doherty, 54, who has lived in the plush Dublin seaside suburb of Howth for many years, has made her money from several different ventures.

The couple own Tyrone Productions which makes many of RTE’s more successful shows and Moya is also a founding member of TODAY FM.

But the couple are best-known for their involvement with Michael Flatley’s Riverdance production which grossed huge sums of money after it was first aired during the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest.

However Ms Doherty still has a long way to go before toppling Ireland’s biggest-earning music millionaires – U2 – who have a combined wealth of more than €500 million.
