A heartbroken mother says she still cannot read her son’s suicide note three weeks after he killed himself.
Enda O’Donnell, 20, a part-time referee and hotel worker, took his own life after leaving for work.
His devastated mum Rose says she still cannot bring herself to read the note he left for her.
“I read the first line and I just started screaming and running around the house. I don’t think I will ever be able to read it,” she said.
Inconsolable Rose Crossan, from Downings, revealed she has also lost her brothers Michael and Joseph to suicide.
“I am just empty. I am just a shell. My heart is broken. After losing my brothers I thought it couldn’t get any worse but it has,” she said.
Rose said that Enda, who workled in the Milford Inn, was the happiest of young men and wanted for nothing in his life.
“The worse thing about it is that we didn’t have any idea it was coming. He loved his work and he was so popular. We just didn’t see this coming,” she said.
In the first line of his goodbye note, Enda said he was sorry for causing Rose more pain but he said he had nothing left in his life.
He also left a note for his friends on his Facebook page saying that he had enough of life.
Rose says she has no doubt there are more young people contemplating suicide but has begged them to think of the consequences.
“I would say there are hundreds of young people out there thinking they are going to do it and they probably will.
“I’m begging – go and speak to someone. Don’t put your parents through this. You can’t go back,” she said.
