DEPUTY Joe McHugh is to open a book of condolence at his office in Letterkenny tomorrow to remember the former Taoiseach Garrett Fitzgerald.

The former Fine Gael leader, who was 85, died in hospital earlier this morning surrounded by his family.

Tributes have been pouring in to the former leader of the country including many from Donegal.

Both former TD Paddy Harte and current Minister of State Dinny McGinley have recalled the influence Dr.Fitzgerald had on their careers.

Deputy McGinley said it was Dr.Fitzgerald who first encouraged him to stand for Fine Gael after being a student of his at UCD.

Deputy McHugh will open the book of condolence at his office at Lower Main Street at 10am.
