County U16 Final

St Eunans 2.06 Buncrana 1.10

County U16 Div1 League Final

Buncrana 1-10 St Eunans 2-6

O Connor Has Buncrana Dancing Jigs Of Joy

An outstanding performance from Darach O Connor, son of former Roscommon great, John “Jigger” O’Connor, paved the was for Buncrana to win a hard fought victory over a gallant St Eunans side for whom Conor O’Donnell was outstanding.

Buncrana started strongly with two points from Darach O’Connor but Eunans replied with a Jack Brennan goal. Matthew Barber and Darach O’Connor left Buncrana one point up. St Eunans hit a purple patch with a Daniel Gillespe goal and three further points to leave them five up witht half time approaching, but O’Connor found the Eunans net to leave the half time score 1-04 to 2-03 in Eunans Favour.

The second half was hard fought with each point hard earned. Bruce Waldron with a point levelled the game after he had won a free which was converted to turn the match in Buncrana’s favour in a nailbiting finish. O’Connor got the final score to seal a great win for Buncrana.

Both management teams deserve great credit for a game fitting of the final.

Best For Buncrana: Darach O’Connor, Bruce Waldron & Stephen Doherty while best for St Eunans were Conor O’Donnell, Brian Hannigan, Barry Meehan and Michael Miller. Buncrana Scorers: Darach O’Connor 1-07, Peter McLaughlin 0-01, Bruce Waldron 0-01, Matthew Barber 0-01.
