A PARISH priest has told mourners of the devastation and loss suffered by the family and friends of four-year-old Daniel Cleary who was laid to rest after Requiem Mass today.

More than 1,200 mourners crowded into and outside St Patrick’s Memorial Church of the Four Masters to hear Father Willie Peoples say the little boy ‘always had a glint in his eye’.

The boy, who would have been five in two months time, died in a tragic accident near his home at Drumbar, Donegal Town on Thrsday when a six foot steel container door fell on him.

Father People said Daniel was always smiling. His favourite thing was to put on his wellies and jeans and ask ‘what will we do now’.

Parents Keith and Patricia followed the tiny coffin from the church as a moving solo of ‘Danny Boy’ was sung.

Daniel, who had a two-year-old brother David, was laid to rest in Clar cemetery after the Mass.

Among the large crowds were local politicians and members of the Four Masters GAA club where Daniel’s grandfather is a leading official.
