Club Notes – Naomh Adhamhnáin – 06.06.11
Congratulations to Colm, Eugene, Sean, Shane and Cormac on helping Donegal win the Lory Meagher Cup in Croke Park on Saturday.
Well done to our U-12 Boys Footballers that had a double success over the weekend. They travelled to Sligo to take part in the Paddy Clifford Memorial Cup hosted by the St. Mary’s club. They won all 3 group games against Eastern Harps (Sligo), Boyle (Roscommon) and Enniskillen Gaels (Fermanagh) before taking on the hosts in the semi-final. After a close game they progressed to take on Corofin from Galway in the Final. A great display against the breeze in thw 1st half gave them the platform and despite turning around down by 5 points to 3, they gave a towering second half display to win the Cup by 1-10 to 0-07. These games proved very beneficial when the lads met Ardara in the Final of the inaugural James Gallagher Memorial Cup in O’Donnell Park on Monday. This team spent many years under James’ watchful eye on Sunday mornings and they did James proud, with their determined display a fitting tribute to our beloved clubman. A big thank you to Aodh Ruadh, Ardara, Fanad Gaels, Gaoth Dobhair and Naomh Conaill for taking part. The lads take on Milford away next Monday (13th).
The U-11’s travelled to Newry on Saturday and despite winning 3 out of their 4 group games they failed to qualify on points difference. Nevertheless this was a great showing for a team playing against players a year older than them. They travelled to Lifford on Monday night for Go Games and came away with a good win. They are at home to Red Hugh’s next Monday night.
The Seniors and Reserve footballers had no games last weekend. The Juniors took on neighbours Glenswilly and ran out convincing winners by 1-14 to 1-01.
The U-14 Boys Div. 1 footballers defeated Gaoth Dobhair in their opening League game last Friday. This Wednesday (June 8th) they take on Cloughaneely in the Park with the Div. 2 boys also at home taking on Milford at St. Eunan’s College after a good win last week over neighbours Glenswilly. Both games throw-in at 7:30pm
There will then be a Fundraising Dance for the U-14 Boys Footballers travelling to Cork in July for Féile in the Clubhouse this Saturday, June 11th from 9:30pm – 12:30am. Music is by Country Traditions. Supper will also be served and admission is €7.
The Sunday Morning U-10 Football Academy will be back in action this Sunday (June 12th) after a break for the Bank Holiday weekend.
Minor Hurling training is postponed until after the exams. U-14 hurling championship is on this Thursday away to Aodh Ruadh. The U-12 Camogie blitz in Dungloe was cancelled. The U-14 Camogie team are hosting a blitz on Friday. Friday hurling academy starts at 6:30pm. The shop will be open during training.
Thank you to James Friel and Paul Carr for a great job organising the Golf Classic on Monday.
Best wishes to all the students beginning their Junior and Leaving Cert exams this week.
