BREAKING NEWS: GARDAI CLAMPDOWN ON ILLEGAL CARS ON RALLY ROUTE

GARDAI are today detaining ‘boy racer’ cars attending the Donegal rally.

They are on the look-out for illegally modified vehicles and checking tax and insurance.

A number of cars were stopped and checked near Illistrin earlier today and Garda sources say more vehicles will be checked at rolling checkpoints around Fanad and Inishowen today and tomorrow.

Meanwhile pleas from organisers to rally fans have been ignored – by some of them at least.

This morning residents in Manorcunningham awoke to find hundreds of so-called ‘doughnut’ marks on the road – tyre tracks left by idiot boy racers spinning their tyres.

We have also been told of similar scenes on the back road to Gaoth Dobhair and near Ramelton.
