€4MILLLION SETTLEMENT FOR DONEGAL CRASH GIRL

A €4 million settlement was approved by the High Court yesterday in favour of a young girl who suffered severe spinal injuries, leaving her wheelchair bound, as a result of a road crash in Co Donegal.

Nóirín McGarvey, now seven, had, through her father, Ronan McGarvey, Lower Dore, Bunbeg, Co Donegal, brought proceedings against William Barr (81), Middletown, Gweedore, Co Donegal.

Mr Barr’s wife Maggie (83) died in the crash at Dunlewy, Co Donegal, on May 27th, 2008.

Mr Barr denied liability and has claimed an indemnity against his GP on grounds he experienced a medical ailment causing him to lose control of his car.
