FAMILIES in crisis as a result of the Mickey Ferry Colaiste Cholmcille sex abuse scandal were finally given numbers to contact by the HSE.
Below is the statement in full:
In the aftermath of the recent extensive media coverage of the case of Michael Ferry, the HSE is encouraging individuals and families who have experienced sexual abuse to avail of counselling services. There are a range of local and national counselling services available for people experiencing distress or simply wish to talk to someone for advice and support. Help can always be sought from your local GP or from the counselling services below. The HSE will monitor the demand for services and provide additional counselling resources if required. The HSE is reviewing its involvement in relation to the case of Michael Ferry to establish that all appropriate actions were taken by both the former North Western Health Board and the HSE. This review will be carried out in line with the HSE’s National Incident Management Policy.
