Portsalon Golf News.

Sean Mc Gettigan Golf Classic.

It’s here on Saturday 30th July the most talked about and eagerly awaited golfing classics of the year as Portsalon Golf Club stages the Sean Mc Gettigan Open Golf Classic. Apart from playing on the golden ‘’Banks’’ of the Portsalon course, entry into this competition includes one of the finest meals one could ever imagine with a wide variety of fish and meats to satisfy the taste of all who participate. Sean has gone to the extreme to ensure that everyone’s taste will be satisfied on the day. The event is a team of four any combination and tee times are available so make sure that you are included in this magnificent event both golfing and feasting. Captains Day

Preparations are well underway for the 2011 Captains Prize at Portsalon Golf Club. Captains Day will be played on Saturday 6th August . A time sheet is in operation for this major golfing event. Contact 0749159459 or go online to portsalongolfclub.com for your tee time.

Lady Captains Day

Marie Gilligan’s Lady Captains prize was staged on Saturday last playing in ideal weather conditions the winner of the ladies section was Mary Barrett. Also on Saturday the Lady Captain had a special event for the gent members and the winner was Pat Greene with 41 points, 2nd Sam Faulkner 39 points, Gross Pascal Cullen, 3rd Noel Gillespie 38 points. The CSS was 36 points. The Captain Donal Callaghan thanked the Lady Captain for all her assistance and held during the year.

Results

The winner of the Wednesday open staged on 20th July was Tommy Mc Intyre (18) 39 points, 2nd D P Logue (5) 39 points, Gross Jordan Graham (3) SPA 29 points 3rd Sean Mc Cormack (18) 37 points. The CSS was 36 points. The winner of the open competition staged on Sunday 24th was Martin Shields (17) 44 points, 2nd Donal Callaghan (18) 41 points, Gross Pascal Culllen, 3rd Anthony Toland 37 points. The CSS was 37 points

Events

On Saturday 30th the tee is reserved for the Sean Mc Gettigan Golf Classic On Sunday 31st July at Portsalon Golf Club there is a member’s competition. The first tee is reserved on Wednesday 3rd August for the Fanad United Golf Classic. A time sheet is in operation for all competitions contact 0749159459 or go online to portsalongolfclub.com.

Match Play

Members who are due to have their match played should note that in the event of the matches not being played by the due date a draw will take place to determine who proceeds to the next round.

Team news

The Portsalon Donegal League team under the leadership of John Logue will play Ballyliffen golf club in the first leg semi final match on Friday evening 29th July at Portsalon Golf club. The first tee will be reserved from 3 pm. To 4 p.m.

The next outing for the over 50’s team will a semi final match against Ballybofey . Club Captain Donal Callaghan is the leader of this team and we await confirmation of dates for this match.

Members and visitors please note that divot bags are now available on entry to the first tee box. Please ensure that you pick up a bag and assist with the course maintenance
