A DUBLIN man has made claims that he was sexually abused by a friend of serial child rapist Michael Ferry, donegaldaily has learned.
The victim was subjected to several sexual assaults in the mid-1990s.
And the man who is alleged to have carried out the attacks is a close friend of Ferry who was jailed for 14 years last week after he pleaded guilty to carrying out dozens of attacks on young boys in Gaoth Dobhair.
Many of those attacks took place at the old Arschoil Mhuire premises – run by Colaiste Cholmcille.
The new allegations relate to a man who is well known in the Gaoth Dobhair area. We cannot name him for legal reasons.
However we can tell you he is a friend of paedophile Ferry.
A well placed source told donegaldaily: “These are very serious allegations and go to the heart of claims that Ferry was part of a child-sex ring in west Donegal.
“The victim in the case says he was sexually assaulted by Ferry’s friends when he was just 10 years old.”
A formal complaint has been lodged with gardai in Glenties.
We understand gardai are continuing their investigations into Ferry and that new charges are “certain” to arise out of those inquiries.
They are also focusing on up to three other men who – it is alleged – were also horribly abused young boys in Gaoth Dobhair over a 20 year period.
“This is a dreadful case,” said a source.
“Unfortunately it appears there are many many more victims out there.”
