She’s only a stone’s throw from Donegal but one Co Tyrone girl is set to hit the big time when she appears on the X-Factor auditions tonight.
The show that makes ordinary singers overnight stars is back on our screens tonight as Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh go in search for another singing sensation.
And it looks like they may just have found one in 16 year old Janet Devlin from Gortin just outside Strabane (that’s near Lifford folks!)
Donegaldaily.com has decided to back the singer for success and if you take a look at the accompanying video, you will see why.
She may only have used a tape recorder in her kitchen in her countryside home but Janet already sounds exactly like Ellie Goulding or Adele.
Destiny Child star Kelly Rowland and Take That’s Gary Barlow can be seen swooning all over the young wannabe star.
And with TV3 on the verge of being able to allow viewers to vote form Ireland this year, we are encouraging everyone to get voting for Janet.
She may not be from County Donegal, but she’s a neighbour and she has genuine talent.
Remember where you heard it first when Janet is at boot camp and singing her way to the top!
On TV3 tonight (or UTV) Janet takes to the stage before new judges Tulisa Contostavlos, Kelly Rowland and Gary Barlow, as well as old hand Louis Walsh, to perform a version of Ellie Goulding’s take on Elton John’s Your Song – and gets a standing ovation.
Dressed in a fluffy long cardigan with letters of the alphabet knitted into it, she appears to be so nervous she has to be coaxed onstage.
Judge Kelly enthuses afterwards: “You’re such a star!”
Louis also reckons: “I don’t think you have any idea how good you are,” with Gary adding: “It was such a wonderful audition.”
