Hello Everyone and welcome along to the 8th edition of Country Corner. I hope you are all enjoying it as much as I am writing it, keep your comments coming in – lots more to come in the next few months ahead.

Patrick Feeney from Co.Sligo has released his New Video for the song Love At First Sight – an orginal song penned by Eglinton Songwriter Peter Mc Keever – This song is on Patrick’s New Cd Good Thing Going Down – check out the new video – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiBautAK8mI and check out patrick’s website www.patrickfeeney.ie

The Regulators – have released there new single in time of the big semi final match this weekend – its entitled Back To The Hills – have a listen – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ekx_kZ9roIs

The Indians – have just released there New Single called Big Chief and The Boys – featuring Geronimo – (Raymond Kelly). The Song was written by John Nelson from Bundoran Co. Donegal, john has taken into consideration that the Indians are celebrating 40th years on the entertainment circuit and the lyrics echo the sentiments of the band, go along to the official website of the Indians – www.the-indians.com.

Kym Kelly from Co.Kildare has released her new Cd entitled – A New Road To Travel. Kym has appeared at Country Fest 2011 in Letterkenny, Kym has picked up a few awards on the way – The Leinester Entertainment Award for Most Popular Artist . Kym is also on the bill for Georgette Jones Irish Tour in Carlow and Dublin.

There is a good mixture of songs on the new cd and especially a song dedicated to her young daughter Quin called – In My Daughters Eye also on the Cd is One Day At A Time, Down At The Twist and Shout and The Blanket On The Ground and her Hit Single – Every Little Thing, check out kyms new video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4kYt50yA28.

Georgette Jones

As you know, Georgette is the only daughter of Country Music’s most legendary marriage between the undisputed King and Queen of Country Music, George Jones and Tammy Wynette.

Georgette will be paying tribute to the music of both her parents, as well as showcasing her own special brand of ‘Urban-Country’ Music in Donegal.

Georgette is bringing her show to the Great Northern Hotel, Bundoran on Friday 9th September and to the Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny on Friday 16th September. Georgette will be joined in Bundoran by Ireland’s very own Louise Morrissey and Mick Flavin, who will be paying tribute to the music of ‘George and Tammy’. Also, appearing with Georgette in Bundoran on the 9th will be Ireland’s Lisa Stanley, who shared many of Georgette’s experiences – being the daughter of Ireland’s Maisie McDaniels! Also, appearing on the night will be Donegal’s prodigal Son – Quincy Raye as well as Jessie Conlon.

Georgette will be joined in Letterkenny by the ‘George and Tammy’ of Ireland -Ray Lynam and Philomena Begley as well as the Prince of Irish Country,Aiden Quinn, who will duet with Georgette on the night! Also, Donegal’s own Quincy Raye will take to the stage, as a great surprise for Letterkenny audiences is promised!

Georgette will also be performing around the Country at the Ardboyne Hotel in Navan on Thursday 8th, The RadissonBlu Hotel in Galway on Saturday 10th, the New Park Hotel in Kilkenny on Sunday 11th, the Clonmel Park Hotel on Tuesday 13th, the Red Cow/Moran’s Hotel Dublin on Thursday 15th, the Four Seasons Hotel Monaghan on Saturday 17th, the River Bank Hotel in Wexford on Sunday 18th and the Dolmen Hotel in Carlow onTuesday 20th. Georgette will also be special guest at this years World Ploughing Championships in Athy County Kildare and will meeting and greeting fans at the Irish Country Sound Pavilion from Tuesday 20th to Thursday 22nd.

Country Music Venue Of The Week – Josie’s Country Tavern

Josie’s Bar in Main Street Letterkenny has been running since October 2003. In Jaunary 2011 Josie Murray started doing Big Band Country Nights on Fridays – Josie has had The Top Names in Irish Country Music playing – Nathan Carter, Robert Mizzell, Derek Ryan, Jimmy Buckley and the New Comers to Irish Country – Gerry Guthrie and Lisa Mc Hugh. Recently Josie’s Bar has Won Entertainment Bar Of The Year and this Year Josies Country Tavern are up for another Award For Venue Of The year. Coming Attractions to Josie’s Country Tavern are – 26th August – Gerry Guthrie, 02nd Sept – Jimmy Buckley. If you are heading out on the Town and looking for a good nights entertainment and dance – then why not get yourself along to Main Street in Letterkenny and go to Josie’s Country Tavern you will NOT be disappointed.
