DRIVER HAS MIRACULOUS ESCAPE AFTER 40 FT TRUCK OVERTURNS

This is the scene after an articulated lorry dramatically overturned in West Donegal today.

It is not believed there have been any injuries after the massive 40ft container lorry flipped over on the Loughanure side of Crolly.

The lorry, which was carrying recyclable rubbish, is believed to weigh more than 30 tonnes.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on the busy N56 road.

Gardai have now blocked off the road and are arranging diversions to prevent a build-up of traffic in the area.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Ironically one of the roads being used to ease the traffic is a road which was closed last week by Donegal County Council for upgrading works.

It is believed the N56 road will be closed for a number of hours before a major recovery operation is undertaken to flip the truck back up.

Tw heavy-lifting cranes are understood to be on their way from Northern Ireland to take part in the operation.
