DONEGAL GETS SECOND HIGHEST CASH FUND TO FACE WINTER WEATHER

Donegal County Council has been given the second highest grant allocation in the country to cope with the expected winter weather.

A total of €752,000 has now been allocated to the county for a range of measures aimed at combatting freezing conditions.

These including salt and grit spreading, road clearing as well as road repairs.

The total allocation of more than three quarters of a million euro includes €84,000 which was announced yesterday by Junior Transport Minister Alan Kelly.

The move has been welcomed by Labour Senator Jimmy Harte.

“We are aware that the tough winters we had recently have put a huge cost on the maintenance of our roads in Donegal and I am delighted that this additional funding announced today will assist the Council in the months ahead ” said Senator Harte
