A BROADBAND provider is unlikely to spend up to €15M on a high speed internet services in Letterkenny.
Conal Henry is the boss of Enet, the company charged with bringing fibre networks to 94 towns in the State, is however looking at the possibility of connecting 10,000 homes in the town.
Mr Henry stressed that Enet was still examining what would be a tough business case for the investment and that it was far from certain that such a deployment would proceed.
Eircom has already announced it has plans to make Letterkenny an e-town – providing next generation internet access for the town.
Industry sources say the Eircom proposition and the huge cost of providing a fibre network may scupper Enet’s plans.
