The council has just instructed its solicitors VP McMullin to press ahead with issuing summonses in the cases of 13 drivers who parked illegally in the town.
Those who parked illegally had been given time to pay the fines but have refused to do so.
Now the council has instructed its solicitors to press ahead with issuing the summonses to the drivers.
A source at Letterkenny Town Council said the move is a warning to people that they cannot simply ignore parking tickets if issued anymore.
“Some people did not take the issuing of parking tickets seriously.
“That day is gone and unless people pay their fines, they will find themselves in court,” said the source.
The source added that there was ample free parking around the town but people who parked in pay and display areas had to feed the meter.
