24 DONEGAL GARDA STATIONS ON CLOSURE HIT-LIST

Up to 24 Garda stations may be closed if Government plans to close 200 nationwide get the go-ahead.

That’s the number of stations put on a possible hit-list – though not all of them will be shut.

Stations which are part-time and have less than two gardai stationed there are believed to be the ones which are most likely to close.

Garda HQ has asked each division to draw up a list of the stations least used.

A final decision won’t be taken for several months however.

It’s thought that may take place after the December budget when Garda funding will be slashed.
