Donegal received further support for their ‘defensive’ style of play when no less than three of the team were named in the Sunday Game’s Team of the Season.

RTE pundits including Pat Spillane and Ciaran Whelan named the team n last night’s programme after the All Ireland Final between Dublin and Kerry.

Not surprisingly the three players – Karl Lacey, Neil McGee and Kevin Cassidy – all line out in defence.

There was also an honourary mention for captain Michael Murphy in the Young Player of the Year category.

Only finalists Dublin and Kerry have more nominations.

And if that wasn’t enough, Gaoth Dobhair star Kevin Cassidy’s last minute point against Kildare in the quarter was named as second most popular clip fro the season.
