GAA: LETTERKENNY GAELS GAA NOTES

The Club are holding a Family Fun Day this Sunday 25th September 2011 @ 2pm at our grounds Páirc na nGael, Glebe. The Fun Day starts at 2pm with athletics and on to loads of Novelty events  including Puc Fada, Kic Fada, Penalty Competition, Spud and Spoon,3 Legged,Sack,Wheelbarrow and Family Relay races. Other Novelty events include the popular Stocks, Wellie and Horseshoe Throwing, Lucky Dip, Clothes Line Challenge and Face Painting.Barbecue and Refreshments served. Under 5’s Play area. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Admission free. Nominal charges for events. Everyone is welcome.

Our Minor team continued their good run in the championship with a comprehensive victory over Buncrana in Scarvey on Friday evening last. Our forwards were sharper on the night and overall a good team performance. A Speedy recovery to Peter Doherty and Keelan Boyce who both picked up injuries on the night. The team now advance to the Northern Final and County semi final. The Senior were defeated in the Junior championship playoff  in Milford on Saturday evening last. The experienced Downings outfit were excellent on the night and we wish them well for the rest of the championship. The Adult teams will have home games against Red Hughs this weekend. Details will be available at training.

Gaels U12 hurlers were narrowly defeated in the “C” final last Thursday. In a competitive match, Aodh Rua proved physically strong although Gaels battled hard to the end. Well done to all players who competed in the league matches. U13 training Tues 6.30pm

U13 gaelic team were beaten by St. Eunan’s in the league. Next match is Termon at home next weekend. Training on Wed 6.30pm

Beidh an comórtas Scór ar siúl gan mhoill. An bhfuil suim agat páirt a ghlacadh? The Annual Scór Competition will take place soon and we would love to hear from anyone interested in taking part. Entrants must be under 16 and categories include solo/group singing,recitation,drama,instrumental group,quiz and Irish Dancing. Following on from last year’s competition we would like to have as many entries from our club as possible. If you would like to take part or help out with year’s Scór competition please contact our  Oifigeach na Gaeilge  Stephen Doherty or Scór Co-ordinator Maura Bn.Uí Bhaoill. Check our website letterkennygaels.Donegal.gaa.ie for all club details. Lotto results for week-ending the 18th September No’s drawn were 6,10,17,18 Match 3 winner was  Letterkenny.Jackpot next week is 1,250 Euro.
