THEY’VE turned on their party leader for failing to put up a candidate, but frustrated members of Fianna Fail in Co Donegal will have some say in the Presidential race….when they bid to nominate Dana today.
The singer-turned-politician and some-time reality TV star from Derry has the support of two county councils and will hope to add Donegal to that list when a special meeting takes place in Lifford this morning.
It was called by Fianna Fail councillor Ciaran Brogan “in the interests of democracy.”
The Eurovision winner is half way there after being backed by Carlow and Roscommon and will wait on Donegal, Waterford and Westmeath today.
In Roscommon, 12 councillors voted to support Dana Rosemary Scallon and 13 abstained from the vote.
Earlier, Ms Scallon won the Carlow vote by seven to zero with the rest abstaining.
Ms Scallon has said she was “delighted” with the support she has received from Carlow and Roscommon County Councils.
