BY PATSY McGONAGLE: If I told you it was 23 degrees the going was good, you would never associate those conditions with cross country but that was exactly the scene at Finn Valley for the annual primary school cross country, bigger and better attended than ever with 1,000 plus youngsters taking the challenge from every corner of the region.
The beautiful weather was an added plus for the cross country and with a positive response the scene was set with many future champions pushing to the front but possibly much more important a great learning oportunity for youngsters having a go for the first time ever.
The results give a clear indication of the outcome but sufficient that the local organisers in partnership with the teachers had once again delivered an excellent enjoyable event – and all on their homeward journey at 1pm.
