Rosapenna Golf Club have won the 2011 Donegal League beating
local rivals Portsalon in the final yesterday.
This is the first time in the competitions
52 year history that Rosapenna have claimed the trophy.
Rosapenna were only in the final once before, in 1982 and lost
out to Strabane on the last hole.
Leading 4-1 (10 holes up) from the home leg the first pairing of Frank Casey Jnr
and Enda Kennedy over came Johnny Shields & Pascal Cullen 3&2 and
with three of the other four matches up and one match all square the match was
effectively over and everyone was called in.
To reach the final Rosapenna beat North West, Falcarragh, Bundoran
& Buncrana.
Well done to the team Captains Francie Boyce & Pete McBride and
all the players who competed all season for the golf club.
