The penultimate round of the Dunlop National Rally Championship, the Bailey NiteClub Redcastle Oceanfront Spa Hotel Donegal Harvest Rally took place on Saturday and attracted an entry of some 130 competitors.
Fermanagh’s Garry Jennings (Mitsubishi) and his Letterkenny co-driver Rory Kennedy held off a late challenge from Niall Maguire/Enda Sherry (Subaru WRC) to win rally.
Jennings, who had originally planned to drive a Subaru WRC, reverted to his usual Mitsubishi and finished five seconds ahead of Maguire.
Gary McPhillips/Gary McNern (Escort) was third – one minute and 32 seconds further behind. The Group N category was won by Trevor Bustard/Kenny Bustard (Mitsubishi).
Monaghan’s, Sam Moffett (Mitsubishi), who did not take part, has won the Motorsport Safety Team Group N award within the Dunlop series.
