October 10, 2011

A man who banged on the door of a Garda station and demanded to be driven home has been jailed for two months.

Oliver Shovlin, 35, of Clondallan, Rathmullan, was found to be extremely drunk when he arrived at Ramelton Garda station.

Gardai told Milford District Court that Shovlin became extremely abusive when approached by Gardai.

“He was roaring and shouting in the middle of the street and was demanding to be brought home.

“He was shouting ‘Bring me home or I’ll break your f***ing nose. When he was warned he would be arrested he said “f*** off,” revealed Gardai.

The court that Shovlin has 22 previous convictions for a range of offences including assault, having no insurance, careless driving and refusing to give a breath test.

He was also jailed for dangerous driving causing death.

Solicitor Patsy Gallagher said his client was already in jail for previous offences and had been extremely traumatised by the death of his friend in that road traffic accident.

The court heard that Shovlin was currently in jail and was due for release in January 2012.

Judge Paul Kelly sentenced Shovlin to two months for a breach of the peace.
