Moya Doherty has told Donegal women they need to live in the now and not to be afraid of failure if they are to succeed in business.
The award winning Director of Tyrone Productions and Producer of Riverdance, delivered a rhythmic, inspiring and motivational speech at a conference hosted by Donegal County Enterprise Board at An Grianan Hotel, Burt.
Whilst referring initially to the highlights of the recent Global Economic Forum and the launch of worldirish.com by her partner John McColgan, Moya went on to share her personal and emotional journey to producing Riverdance and beyond.
Moya encouraged the audience to enjoy the journey of life and business, not to be afraid of failure and to live in the now.
Also speaking at the event was the co-founder of Clevamama, Suzanne Browne, who designs Award-winning childcare products.
Suzanne shared with the audience the mistakes that had been made as well as what has worked for the company.
She stressed the importance of branding and understanding what your business is, what you want it to do and even more importantly not do.
Suzanne also shared how successful partnerships with Teagasc, Trinity College Dublin and Enterprise Ireland had helped the company grow.
The local business case studies spoke with passion and honesty about their businesses and how they are working through the Recession and included:-
Karen Kerrigan from the National Hairdressing Academy, Bundoran, Geraldine Burke from Letterkenny Community Childcare and Lorraine Carey from LC Clothing, Buncrana.
Ursula Donnelly, Assistant CEO of the County Enterprise Board, chaired the conference ensuring that the audience were left feeling informed, empowered and motivated to either start their own business or expand their current business offering.
Michael Tunney closed the conference by encouraging the audience, either individually or collectively, to drive the area of female entrepreneurship forward in Donegal.
The conference was organised as part of the Donegal County Enterprise Board’s Enhancing Women’s Entrepreneurship (EWE) programme which aims to support the development of new and existing female entrepreneurs in Donegal.
The programme will also run management development training, a mentoring programme, business mentoring clinics and workshops for women in business in Donegal.
