BUNGLING OFFICIALS APOLOGISE TO ELECTION CANDIDATE

BUNGLING officials have apologised to an independent election candidate – after sending documentation to the WRONG ADDRESS.

Ryan Stewart stood in Donegal North East in this year’s general election.

He filed his election expenses as required under law.

But the Standards in Public Office Commission reported Stewart to the DPP recommending prosecution.

However they have now withdrawn the complaint after realising that they sent other documents to the wrong address in Inishowen.

“It’s simple,” said Stewart, “I moved home in March so I didn’t get any of the forms that were sent to me.

“I did a full return on expenses and sent in all the forms, but they sent something back which I didn’t get.

“I’ve spoken to the Commission and they are withdrawing the complaint.”
