The Donegal Chamber Orchestra will be performing next Saturday 22nd October in RDS, Dublin as part of the DIWALI Festival of lights 2011.

The Ensemble will be joined by sean-nos singer Doimnic Mac Giolla Bhride, poets Gabriel Rosenstock and Cathal O Searchaigh plus visual installations by Ian Joyce, all linked under the musical performance of music by Letterkenny born composer Derek Ball.

After a very successful participation in RTE 1 Radio program Sunday Miscellany this will be the Orchestra’s first public appearance in Dublin and they are delighted to perform in such a prestigious venue.

Composer Derek Ball has prepared a revision of the score (premiered last May in the Regional Cultural Centre) specially for the occasion.

The Donegal Chamber Orchestra will be conducted by Víctor Yélamo (Artistic director of the group) with guest leader of Slovakian violinist Lucia Spacirova.

The Orchestra, founded in 2006, is celebrating now its 5th Anniversay and want to acknowledge the support of all members (past and present), parents, audience, Co. Donegal VEC, the Regional Cultural Centre and Traolach O’Fionnan, Arts Officer, Donegal County Council.
