Letterkenny motorists are to lose one of their last free car parks from tomorrow.
A private developer has erected signs and now customers who park in the town’s multi-storey car park behind the courthouse at Justice Walsh Road will have to pay.
Motorists will have to pay 50c per hour or a flat fee of €1 per day
The first half hour of the stay is free in line with other car parks and on-street parking around the town
The car park has been a popular parking spot for many workers around the Cathedral Town.
A source said “It has been free for a long time now but we have decided it is time to charge.
“There is a charge but it will be minimal – especially for people who use the car park all day.
“The first half hour is free so if people are using the car park for a quick message then they will not have to pay.
“There are also very reasonable rates that people can avail of if they want to book a month or a year’s parking if they are using the car park a lot,” said the source.
