BREAKING NEWS: One man was injured and two children treated for shock today after a horror three-car smash in the centre of Kilmacrennan.
The crash happened this afternoon at the crossroads junction in the centre of the village.
A VW Golf and a 4×4 Shogun vehicle were shunted across the road.
A third vehicle – a Nissan – crashed into the path of a house at the junction.
Gardai were quickly on the scene and were forced to re-direct traffic. There were long tailbacks for a time.
The driver of one vehicle was treated at the scene for cuts to his head while two children in another vehicle were treated for shock.
Gardai were trying to establish how the crash was caused at a junction which is notorious for car smashes.
Sand had to be thrown across the road after the incident as petrol and diesel was spilled there during the incident.
One resident of the house where the car came to a halt said: “I’m still shaking because the car came to a halt outside a room where our two wee boys play.”
She said she was relieved the car hadn’t crashed into the house, adding: “The family in that car are really shook up; there were too wee boys and they were shaken by what happened.”
