They made it to the county final where they gave a great account of themselves and this weekend they completed a great 2011 with victory on the Division 2 play-off.
Many people thought Eddie Harkin’s side were Division One material throughout the Championship. Well, next year they will be.
They beat Killybegs by a three point margin – 0-12 to 1-6. The only surprise was that St Michael’s county star Colm McFadden didn’t score.
But Christy Toye was in scoring form and he contributed two scores as did Antoin McFadden.
Meanwhile in Division One St Eunan’s had seven points to spare over neighbours Glenswilly in a scoreline of 1-14 to 0-10. Glenswilly were without Michael Murphy but he will be back in time for the relegation play-off with Malin.
The only disappointment at the game at O’Donnell Park was the sending off of John Haran. Substitute Liam Molloy soon followed…even though he wasn’t even on the pitch.
In other matches St Naul’s had just two points to spare over Downings – 2-11 to 3-06.
Urris beat Aodh Ruadh 3-12 to 0-11 – with Alan Friel the star of the show, shooting 2-05 of the Inishowen side’s score.
The County U-21 fianl will see Naomh Conaill take on Kilcar.
Naomh Conaill had a superb 2-15 to 1-09 victory over Malin while fans as the Kilcar v Bundoran clash saw FIVE goals – the final score Kilcar 3-08, Bundoran 2-04.
