Letterkenny Town Council has produced a brochure to help people tackle the possibility of a huge snowfall this winter.

The brochure will be distributed to the public and resident’s association during a special winter information evening.

The date of the meeting is expected to be announced at tonight’s monthly town council meeting.

The brochure contains practical advice on clearing footpaths as well as such things as the council’s gritting policy.

The meeting is also expected to hear from the council on its plans for tackling any possible cold snap similar to the past couple of years.

A council source said “We certainly cannot be accused of not being ready for a heavy snowfall such as last year.

“A lot of work has gone into this. Some people are saying we may not have the freezing winter some are predicting but we are prepared.

“It’s a matter of educating the public and putting the correct procedures in place in the event of such freezing conditions.”
